Things I have said to my kids today (or, OH GOD, I’m turning into my mother!):
- Don’t hit the dog with your guitar.
- HaHa, you want a lacrosse stick that costs $200? REALLY?!? Yeah, no. Learn to love your old stick.
- Are you deaf? Turn the music down.
- Uh, what are these neato pictures on Facebook of you crowd surfing at this cool show I didn’t know you went to?
- Eat what I made or starve, I don’t care.
- Quit stealing your sister’s Delia’s catalogs. Eww.
- Who stinks?
- What do you mean you lost the milk?
- Your retainer does not belong by the kitchen sink.
- Doesn’t anyone know how to vacuum around here?
- You’re bored? Go clean the bathroom.

If I had a dollar for every time I was told to “Love my old stick,” I’d be able to buy your kid new lacrosse equipment.
